Spec-Net Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is effective from 11 June 2014.

  1.             Commitment to Your Privacy and Protection of Your Personal Information

Your privacy is important to Spec-Net Pty. Limited ABN 91 003 773 564(Spec-Net).

Spec-Net’s Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how your personal information will be used and protected by Spec-Net and its related entities.  This Policy applies to your use of any Spec-Net website, when you deal with Spec-Net and whenever Spec-Net stores or collect your personal information. Spec-Net may update this Policy without notice as required.

      2.             Types of Personal Information Spec-Net Collects and Holds

The information Spec-Net may collect from you may include your:

  1. Name, address, contact telephone numbers and other contact details;
  2. Email address;
  3. Date of birth;
  4. Gender;
  5. Social media memberships and user IDs; and
  6. Any other information you provide about yourself.
  1.             Website Cookies and Digital services

Spec-Net may record your internet protocol (IP) address when you access pages on Spec-Net’s website. Spec-Net may also download “cookies”, small text files that help us identify repeat visitors, which are stored on your hard disk.  Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but you may disable this function.  Disabling the cookie function in your web browser may limit the functionality of Spec-Net website and the speed with which Spec-Net can respond to your requests.

Spec-Net collects your personal information so that it can process orders, respond to queries and, where permitted by you, send you information about Spec-Net.

When you purchase products from Spec-Net or make an enquiry, Spec-Net collects and stores the information you provide, including the types of information set out in paragraph 2.

Spec-Net stores your personal information in a combination of secure computer storage devices and hard copy files.  Spec-Net has taken a range of industry-standard measures to protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access and disclosure.

When Spec-Net no longer needs your personal information, Spec-Net will destroy or depersonalise such data. 

Spec-Net will only deal with third parties who require access to your information in order to supply you with goods and services on condition that it is kept confidential, only used for the purpose for which it was provided, is kept secure and is destroyed when it is no longer required.

  1.             How Spec-Net Uses and Discloses Your Personal Information

Spec-Net will use and disclose your information to complete orders placed by you for goods and services and to enable third parties to fill such orders and answer related enquiries that you make via the Spec-Net website.  Spec-Net may provide your personal information to its agents, contractors and related entities for the same purposes.

Spec-Net, its related entities and third party suppliers, may collect information about your social media preferences and activities and disclose your personal information to Spec-Net’s related entities.

Spec-Net may also collect demographic information and behavioural information from social media platforms to make offers that are more likely to meet your needs or be of interest.

  1.             You May “Opt out” of Direct Marketing

You can tell Spec-Net or its related entities or suppliers to not send you information by selecting the “opt out” checkbox on the Spec-Net website when you finish entering your personal information or before completing a transaction on the Spec-Net website. If you elect to opt out of receiving further information from Spec-Net, its related entities and Spec-Net’s third party suppliers:

Spec-Net may still use your personal information to provide you with the services and products you have ordered or the information you have requested; and

There may be a short delay between your opting out and Spec-Net acting upon your request to opt out.

Spec-Net will not make your personal information available to third parties in return for a fee or a charge without your consent.  Spec-Net may disclose your personal information where Spec-Net is required or authorised by law to do so.

      10.           Disclosure of Your Personal Information Outside Australia

Within the terms of this Policy, Spec-Net may need to disclose your personal information to third parties located outside Australia.  Such information may not be protected in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and Spec-Net is unable to take any steps to ensure such protection.

      11.           Your Right to Access Your Personal Information

If you wish to obtain a copy of, or there has been a change to, the personal details Spec-Net has collected or stored about you, you can advise Spec-Net by calling 1300 656 126 or emailing: admin@shopspecnet.com.au.  Where requested, Spec-Net will provide you with a copy of your personal information that Spec-Net holds and do so in accordance with the Privacy Act.  If there is a fee for accessing such information, Spec-Net will advise you of such fees before providing a copy of the information.  Spec-Net will take reasonable steps to verify the identity of anyone requesting access to your personal information and only provide information to persons with the right to access your information.

Spec-Net will promptly acknowledge and investigate your concerns. If your concerns are not resolved, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
